Product Designer

Lead client website designs end-to-end while turning every build into reusable patterns for our platform — AI-native workflow, near-production prototyping.

NewCharlotte, NC (hybrid — onsite 3 days/week)$75,000 – $90,000Apply now

carbonhouse builds the digital infrastructure behind live entertainment — the websites and products powering arenas, stadiums, theaters and the events that fill them. We're not just a web agency anymore; we're becoming a product and platform company, and design sits at the center of that shift.

This role holds two distinct responsibilities at once: lead client website designs — presenting to clients, translating their brand identity and owning the work from first concept to launch — and maintain a product lens, using every client build to discover and pressure-test reusable patterns for our core platform. You'll get designs close to production, partner tightly with developers to ship them, and feed what you learn back into the product.

If your instinct on a client project is to "just get this one out the door," this isn't the role for you. If your instinct is "how do I make this client's site excellent and build it in a way that benefits the next fifty clients," keep reading.

The role

What you'll do.

  • Lead end-to-end client projects — own the design process from concept to launch, collaborating closely with the Creative Director to present concepts, interpret client brands with high craft and drive successful outcomes
  • Serve the client and build the product simultaneously — deliver tailored solutions while identifying scalable patterns that feed our growing product suite, so each project compounds value rather than ending at launch
  • Design in real materials, not just Figma — use AI-assisted tooling to prototype and validate concepts close to a working front-end, so clients see realistic outputs and hand-offs to development are pre-tested
  • Partner with development as a peer, not a hand-off — consult on technical feasibility early, speak the engineering team's language and answer complex structural questions before build starts
  • Direct AI as a core part of your workflow — architect prompts, build small automations, evaluate machine output and establish what "good" looks like when tools generate initial drafts
  • Contribute to shared design systems — help build and maintain the team's components, patterns and design tokens, informed by real client needs
  • Turn data into client and product decisions — transform analytics across active sites into insights for both immediate client work and the long-term product roadmap
  • Share craft with the wider team — mentor associate designers, model effective AI and developer collaboration, and feed strategic product direction back to the Creative Director
Requirements

What you'll bring.

  • 4–6 years of web/product design experience, with a portfolio that shows systems thinking and brand applied with intention — not just pretty screens
  • Client-facing confidence — you present your own work, defend design decisions, read the room and turn feedback into better outcomes without losing the craft
  • Expert Figma: components, variants, Variables, design tokens, library management
  • AI-native workflow — you already design with AI: prompting, iterating, evaluating output, building small automations, with the taste to tell when the model is right and when it's wrong
  • Fluency turning design into near-production prototypes using AI-assisted tools
  • Comfortable reading and evaluating code and understanding front-end constraints — you don't write production code, but you can hold a real conversation about feasibility
  • Deep command of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG AA+) and performance-conscious design
  • Systems thinking — you design for the client in front of you and for reuse across our sites and products
  • Data-informed judgement and ownership — you make confident calls on your own projects and flag the exceptions
Nice to have

Bonus points.

  • Building custom integrations or automations that streamline the design-to-development pipeline
  • Familiarity with CMS / SaaS / platform constraints and designing within them
  • Experience designing productized systems or component libraries meant to be sold and reused
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS or front-end architecture
  • Sports, entertainment or live-event industry experience
